A lot of people have been asking me (the creator of the Lego Ideas Ghostbusters HQ project, submitted on March 19, 2014, that reached 10k and was rejected – more pictures) and Brent Waller (the creator of the Ecto-1 LEGO ideas project) what’s the deal with the official released “75827 Lego Ghostbuster Firehouse Headquarters” and what’s our relationship to it. The answer is unfortunately none…

We present you, our Lego® Ghostbusters Headquarter with interior and Ecto-1 Update

Lego released the 21108 LEGO® Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Set. We thought – why not built the appropriate HQ to celebrate the 30th Anniversary!
We decided to built a hybrid between GB1 & GB2 and add more extras and details, lights and other stuff.

Parts: 5704 Lego Parts
Build Difficulty: Hard

Designed with: Lego Digital Designer
Brick Shops: bricklink.com
Light Solution: lifelites.com

Inspirations & Thanks to: Dr.Dave W., Brent Waller

Ground Floor:

– Flight Suit Cabins with removable Uniforms
– fireman’s pole (playable)
– Peter’s & Janine’s shared Desk
– Alarm Bell
– lighting ( missing here Cyclinder Hemisphere 2 x 2 with Cutout)
– and many more details

Basement:

– The Containment Unit is attached to the opening wall, so this is more like a basement.
The stairs could be to get down to the basement or to the first floor, anyone can play on his way…

1st Floor

– Kitchen and dining area with many details
– Arcade area
– Bedroom
– removable bathroom (not seen in this rendering – already built)
– removable stairs to the 2nd Floor (not seen in this rendering – already built)
– fireman’s pole hole (railing must be installed, not possible in the LDD)

2nd Floor

– Egon’s Lab with many great thinks
– Analysis apparatus and computer attached to the head of Louis “The Keymaster” Tully
– Rack to keep the Ghost-Traps or other equipment
– Alarm Bell (otherwise you can not hear the alarm from below ;))
– Pool Table
– Couch and TV Area
– fireman’s pole hole (railing must be installed, not possible in the LDD)

The Roof is removable

and many more details and moving elements distributed over all floors

The official Lego Ideas 21108 Ghostbusters™ Ecto-1 will fit through the doors and has a place in it. The Ecto-1 is to large so unfortunately I had to remove a desk. I joined together Janine and Peter’s desk to get more space.

Have Fun. And don’t forget to support this Project on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/60632

Ghostbusters HQ @ Lego Ideas

We reached 10’000 Supporters! The Project was in Review Stage at Lego! Without you this would not have been possible. Thank you all for this great support. Unfortunately our HQ didn’t pass review Stage, congratulations to those projects that did. Get more information about the decision on the Lego Ideas Blog.

Thank you!

FAQ: Instructions issue with LDD

Unfortunaty many users can not generate a pdf or instruction from the ldd file. Maybe the build is to big, this is a LDD issue that many users and we have. It depends also on the power of the computer, because this model is huge and have complex calculations.

Our solution is to split the build-phase in 3-5 steps (separate floors & big-door) and then generate the build-guide from the ldd, this works fine, we have made it the same way. maybe you have your own workflow to manage this, play and experiment with the LDD, there are many ways to do this build.

You find also another solution and a LDraw File on this Page: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=93554&st=75#entry1972758
